Disabling move animation makes the pieces disappear

When I disable move animation, instead of the pieces moving instantly, the chess pieces stop being animated.

Is this what removing move animation is supposed to do? I just want the pieces to move instantly instead of waiting 1s when i scroll through moves

I'm using an AMD GPU if that matters:
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core Processor, 3401 Mhz, 16 Core(s), 32 Logical Processor(s)
