How can I clear all devices from nidaqmx

I am running on Ubuntu Linux and I don't have NI MAX installed, just nidaqmx. I run nilsdev on my device and I get this:

cDAQ1 [Not Present]
cDAQ1Mod3 [Not Present]
cDAQ1Mod2 [Not Present]
cDAQ1Mod1 [Not Present]
cDAQ2
cDAQ2Mod1
cDAQ2Mod3
cDAQ2Mod2

That first device is not present and never will be; but alas, it remains. What is a way to wipe that from whatever cache it lives in?

Here are a couple of potential solutions:

• Use nidaqmxconfig to export the configuration to a file, edit the file, and import the modified configuration.
• Use resetniconfig. This will remove all devices, not just the ones that aren't present, but when you reboot, NI-DAQmx will re-detect the ones that still exist. Judging from the fact that this command is documented in the NI Hardware Configuration Utility help, you may not have it installed.

Yeah resetniconfig sounds promising but it's not installed. Not to say I wouldn't use it at some point. I will try the export/import workflow tomorrow.

Full disclosure I am using daqmx in ubuntu via a Vagrant VM. After configuring USB passthru it seems like it works well - I added grpc-device on top and communicate from the host OS.

I just ended up wiping my VM image and that took the USB devices with it.
