Description
First of all, from looking at these MIDI files, the amount of work you must have done to get them just right... amazing. This is very impressive. I've always wondered if there was a repository for Casio music and this is probably the closest thing I've found!
I grew up on the Casio CTK-401 and WK-110; I bought a Yamaha PSR-EW400 shortly before leaving home but never forgot any of the old Casio rhythms and songs. When I had the WK-110, I had always wanted to create my own auto-accompaniment songs to learn with the three-step lesson feature but could never figure out how to do that, if it's even possible. The Yamaha allows you to display a chord name on screen from a MIDI file but still doesn't emulate the auto accompaniment feature with left-hand lessons (e.g. if you run a left hand lesson, chords are treated as standard notes).
A while back, I started writing a program to not only emulate auto accompaniment lessons (eventually), but actually generate accompaniment based on rhythm and chord input. You would input the rhythms in a format very similar to what you have here. Since these are the rhythms and songs I grew up with, it would be awesome to be able to generate and share them in the "rhythm plus melody" format my program uses. I could even load them as rhythms onto my Yamaha and play them (mostly) as I would on a Casio!
TLDR, I couldn't help but notice that a few of the rhythms are missing their fill-ins, intros, endings, and other sections. E.g. the slow swing is missing its intro and ending. Not sure if this is helpful in that regard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSaYfju9yyE
I'm excited to see where this project goes! A true jackpot of Casio nostalgia!
