Bootstrapping a Compliance-Heavy Product From Zero to Launch
The Abstract
It’s one thing to build an MVP. It’s another to build one in a domain full of regulations, audits, legal ambiguity, and competitors who all look “complete” from day one.
Where do you start when you can’t just “ship fast and break things”?
How do you keep the scope under control when every feature has compliance consequences?
And when is the product actually good enough to launch?
In this talk, I’ll share the practical lessons from building Vatly, a merchant-of-record platform for SaaS companies, from scratch:
- How to validate and scope a compliance-heavy product
- How to avoid drowning in requirements (legal, tax, financial)
- Architecture decisions that helped (and some that made life harder)
- Building a team and workflow for long-term complexity
- Knowing when to stop building and actually launch
