Congrats! While there's a lot of nice things about running on Vercel, it becomes quite apparent through the docs that NextJS comes first. I'm looking forward to the potential of Nuxt/Nitro also becoming a first-class citizen. And of course ensuring the long-term development and support of the core team is great news! I'm glad you guys can continue your awesome work, and I appreciate your plan to keep developing in the open. The transparency and open collaboration of Nuxt is a great differentiator and benefit. (Also, does this mean we get Skew Protection? 😀) |

I am very excited to announce that we are joining forces with Vercel.
Nitro is a toolkit for building platform and runtime-agnostic web servers. We stay committed to being fully agnostic, equally supporting all vendors and frameworks openly, neutrally, and without lock-in, with strong governance principles to ensure openness and inclusion.
Thanks to NuxtLabs and individual sponsors for their generous financial support. Since 2020, Nitro has been actively maintained as a free and open project for everyone. Alongside acquiring NuxtLabs, Vercel is hiring me and some current team members to work full-time on open-source projects, including Nitro. This will be a great opportunity for us to help Vercel shape better infrastructure for Nitro support.
Nitro will continue to be led independently, with the same core values as before, working closely with meta-framework teams and collaborating with providers to ensure it remains a strong, agnostic foundation for building JavaScript servers.
With the Nitro v3 release on the horizon, we are betting on web standards and native integration with Vite, making Nitro more accessible than ever before. Stay tuned for more updates!
