Preset vercel_edge takes significant more time, why?

I have a codebase running on the Vercel Egde network, and when I built it takes some time to build it.
But when I compare it with the node preset it takes more than 25 times less time.

I can imagine some transformation needs to be done, but can you explain why this gap is that big?
Is there any option or configuration to speed this up?
