Is it possible to install onto external storage using termux-setup-storage?

This is probably a common question but is it possible to install fedora onto the external sdcard using termux-setup-storage? I attempted to edit the termux-fedora.sh script to use the /data/data/com.termux/files/home/storage/external... however I ran into symlink errors presumably because termux-setup-storage already is a symlink.
