Key for Android Kindle

Hello,

The most recent communication I have seen on the Android Kindle Key question is that due to some recent changes, the key is impossible or near impossible to extract. Is this still the case or is there a new work around for this? Thanks

I have a Kindle that is a couple years old. It reports current on software. It works fine, but the file is black and white, which is slightly annoying. That is why I wanted to use the android/pc version.

I'd say Kindle for PC is definitely easier to get working than the Kindle for Android method. One reason for using Kindle for Android instead is if you really prefer the older KF8/AZW3 format instead of KFX.

The Kindle for PC doesn't work either. I thought that was temporarily dead in the water as well.
The files are all in the Kindle directories as .voucher, .phl, .azw, .azw.md, and .azw.res.

Environment:
Kindle 2.6.1 70964
calibre 7.26
Successfully initialized third party plugins: DeACSM (0, 0, 16) && Gather KFX-ZIP (from KFX Input) (2, 21, 0) && DeDRM (10, 0, 9) && Package KFX (from KFX Input) (2, 21, 0) && KFX metadata reader (from KFX Input) (2, 21, 0) && From KFX (2, 21, 0) && KFX Input (2, 21, 0)

I get the following errors:
Exception: Unknown type encountered in envelope, expected VoucherEnvelope
Exception: Failed to decrypt KFX DRM voucher with any key
Ultimately failed to decrypt after 0.9 seconds.
KFXDRMError: Book container xxx.azw has DRM and cannot be converted
KFX metadata reader (from KFX Input) activated for C:...\xxx.kfx-zip

The key I am using was from Plugins > DeDRM > Kindle for Mac/PC ebooks > "+"
This generates a default key for Kindle for Mac and PC Keys

I have spent quite a bit of time reading, and I believe I am doing everything correctly.

You need to use no more recent then Kindle for PC 2.4.0 (70904). See method 2a at the link above for info on preventing updates.
