How to set filter and mask ?

Hello

I have been programming with a lot of different CAN adapters.
But I have never seen any adapter which does not allow me to set a CAN filter and a mask.
How is that possible?

How can I filter the packets that interest me from the tremendous traffic on a CAN bus ?
