While I agree that there should be a way to do this, unfortunately there isn't anything built-in to combine partially calculated jobs in DOSXYZnrc. You're able to kill it and then resume the simulation, or re-combine an already finished parallel job. You'll be left with the data in .egsdat files in the egsrun directories, so the data is there (in binary), but no tool to combine it and produce a 3ddose file. If anyone reading this has a tool to combine the DOSXYZnrc .egsdat files, now is the time to chime in :) |

Hi all,
I am running a long DOSXYZnrc job with egs-parallel, and it has been running for ~6 days.
Unfortunately, I realized that I overestimated the required NCASE. I would like to stop the run now if possible and use the dose accumulated so far.
If I interrupt the run with Ctrl+C, will DOSXYZnrc still produce a valid .3ddose file (normalized to the completed histories), or is an early stop not supported?
I would appreciate any clarification before I stop the job.
Thanks in advance!
