It does look like nusnow has both aws CLI and psql, so I can use the basic archive@nusnow account as well, so it's definitely not a priority more a convenience.

also depends on whether Suzanne needs just the postgres command line tools to connect to an instance on a separate db server or if she wants a postgres instance running on the VM itself.

We do have aws cli on the metgenc machine, not psql right now though.

I think I just need the command line tools - I'm essentially connecting to the aws db and then wanting to run a query on it and copy the results.

...the primary script/call I want to be able to run is this psql_to_cumulus_MODE.sh script. I've gotten it up and running on my DIY VM, but trying it out (and making some additions to .aws/config in support of it) nets me a credentials issue. I'll leave the script in the scripts directory I made, and will poke around to see if I can figure out where it's looking and what it needs, but wanted to keep you posted.
