I'm immortalizing Suzanne's feedback as tickets:

We (maybe?) want to use aws secrets manager for earth data login stuff, had to manually export that info and we don't want passwords etc., living on the ec2.

This is related to, possibly made OBE because of, issue #291 !!

Need some clarification as to whether this is a metgenc issue. The application simply reads authentication information from environment variables. How those variables are set is up to the user.
