UI mode throws exceptions during large experiments

@Marti2203 just creating a tracking issue for the problem we encountered during the CS5219 trial runs.

I understand these exceptions are now caught and ignored so that the entire experiment isn't taken down, but I think the cause of the exception is still unknown?
