Out of the box, mini.surround does not work or show bindings menu

Describe the bug

mini.surround does not work as described in the docs/kickstart video. Tested on MacOS Tahoe and Linux Mint.

To Reproduce

1. Press s.
2. see no result.
3. Pressing saiw) puts nvim into append/insert mode, etc.

• OS:macos Tahoe
• Terminal:ghostty
