What causes telescope-frecency to say "remove 565 entries from database?"

I'm trying to make an MRE config for a bug that telescope frecency has (the bug is that the letter A is inserted into the prompt the first time I use the frecency picker)

Here's the config

And then press <space>fr to open telescope-frecency, I first get a little interactive prompt

[Telescope-Frecency] remove 565 entries from database?                                                                                                                                     
1: Yes. Remove them.                                                                                                                                                                       
2: No. Do nothing.                                                                                                                                                                         
Type number and <Enter> or click with the mouse (q or empty cancels):

why? why does this only exist for this config?

The message says it has 565 stale entries, that means the path of each entry does not exist anymore. If your env has no such changes, it is strange that such message appears.

BTW, you want a minimal config to investigate a problem? (type A automatically in the prompt). Then you should use NVIM_APPNAME feature for that (help is here).

$ mkdir ~/.config/nvim-frecency-debugging
# write a minimal reproducible config here
$ nvim ~/.config/nvim-frecency-debugging/init.lua
# run with the config
$ env NVIM_APPNAME=nvim-frecency-debugging nvim

With this method, frecency creates and uses truly clean database. You can focus on debugging the problem.
