How exactly are you supposed to wire the Pi up to the car?

I've got a Pi Zero 2 W for this, which has a microUSB female port that supports OTG.

I infer that I'll need an OTG adapter somewhere in the chain.

My car (Subaru Forester) just has regular female USB ports with which to connect an iPod.

What cable(s) do I use to connect the Pi to these ports?

I use a standard USB-A to microUSB cable. I believe that all modern cables support OTG, but I could be mistaken.

@joeyvanlierop Joey, I'm trying to make this work for the exact same vehicle (I'm going to assume P1 Volvo (S40, V50, .etc) from the interior pictures you put. Have you had success getting this to work? I am trying to do this on a Orange PI, but I will consider a Raspberry if necessary.

My difficulty is I'm trying to do this more so over a Grom unit which "adds" usb functionality, Grom lied and said it supported Android, but it doesn't, so I'm working with trying to get the iPod-Gadget to impersonate an iPhone. (I'm using an iphone that's left in the car for audio, very inconvenient).

@halbrd Halbrd, I'm pretty sure there's a slight difference between the old USB OTG standard where a gnd pin was connected to a signal pin to indicate OTG, but newer USB C have a different implementation that may affect a USB A to C converstion...
Works for communication when using my OTG USB C OTG to USB A. (£2 cable). I'm sure it just works with a regular cable.

@JoshHiggins92 Yep, I have it working in my C30. I've been meaning to publish some information on how I got everything to work (metadata, steering wheel controls, etc.) but I just haven't had the time lately. If you have specific questions, I'll try my best to help you out.

@joeyvanlierop Please do! I've hurt my back so going into my car has been a paintful experience, but I'll definitely hit you up for some pointers when I get around to testing it all again and encounter any issues. The MOST/Audio system in my Volvo is such a headache for aftermarket stuff. Thanks!
