Hi,

Can you explain to me how to use this daemon? Do i need to use couch http api to create user?

The app creates the user account as well as provisioning the configured database. The http request is to the url specified in the [httpd_global_handlers] section of the config file. So, given the example config provided, sending an http put request to:

 http://127.0.0.1:[your couchdb server port, i.e. 5984]/_myapp_provision?username=user&password=pword

The node app performs the following actions:

1. Generates a unique database name based on the username and (optionally) a configurable namespace string. (In our example, com.example.myapp_user)
2. Adds a document to the _users database for the new user containing the database name as a custom property. (i.e. creates the new user, and adds the new database name as a property on that new user)
3. Sets the _security document for the new database so the user can administrate their db. (Ensures that the user as admin permission on their new app database com.example.myapp_user)
4. Adds a validate document update function that restricts document updates to the database owner. (Ensures that other users cannot update the new database com.example.myapp_user)
5. Returns a JSON document containing the new user's entry in the _users database (minus the password) and the generated database name. (returns the new users account details, excluding password, along with the name of the newly created database, com.example.myapp_user)

I haven't tested it yet, but I presume it updates the user information with the new database name if the user already exists, after validating the provided password - if not, I'll add an issue for the feature.

I tried doing the http put to http://127.0.0.1:8100/_myapp_provision but couldnt get any response. I guessing my setup is not correct. I verified that the configuration is applied in couchdb from http://localhost:5984/_utils/config.html

Any idea on how to check the daemon is running?

I miss configured the post URL -- instead of 8100 the port should be the couchdb server port, 5984 by default.

8100 is the port of the node app, and is the target of the proxy request. Sorry for the mistake.

By the way, I've verified that it won't provision a database for a pre-existing user.

Hi, Im getting

error provisioning user: {"error":"unauthorized","reason":"Name or password is incorrect.","info":"create user"}

using the url:

http://127.0.0.1:5984/_myapp_provision?username=user&password=pword

Any idea what this could be?

I resolved this by fixing the "Admin Party" default.

Now I'm getting:

error provisioning user: {"error":"illegal_database_name","reason":"Name: 'com.example.myapp_user_09c55e04-8530-4ac0-972b-85cf296eaf8f'. Only lowercase characters (a-z), digits (0-9), and any of the characters _, $, (, ), +, -, and / are allowed. Must begin with a letter.","info":"create db"}

I resolved that error by setting the namespace to: myapp as appose to com.example.myapp because couchdb did not like the . character

Hey guys, I need a little help..

I'm sending this command:

And I'm receiving:
{"error":"missing required parameters"}

Any idea?
