Opening 'Data Explorer' via command palette opens in left pane instead of new tab

I've been editing my templates using the 'Data Explorer' function while @johansan's Notebook Navigator plugin is enabled. Normally, when you select 'Data Explorer' from the command palette, it opens itself in a new tab split to the right. But recently (?) it's started to open in the column reserved for NN's dual pane in its 'horizontal split' orientation. When that happens, it looks like this:

What's weird is that this isn't always reproducible? Sometimes 'Data Explorer' will open in a 'split-right' new tab, and sometimes it'll open in the left pane instead (split to the right within it, of course). When the latter happens, I can't close 'Data Explorer' aside from just disabling and re-enabling the Zotero Integration plugin itself, which leads me to believe this isn't so much an issue with NN as it is an issue stemming from the UI fixes introduced in Obsidian 1.11.

Small update: I'm a moron. I didn't realize you can move the 'Data Explorer' tab by click-holding on the gear icon and dragging it elsewhere. Still, it's confusing how it sometimes opens within the left pane.

I think I managed to reproduce the issue. If the last time you clicked just so happened to be in either the left or right pane/sidebar, then Data Explorer will find a way to open itself there instead (when selected from the command palette). You can always click and drag it elsewhere, but it'd be nice if there were somehow a way to make it open only in a new tab, regardless of cursor position.
