Option to sort tasks by due date, then tags (or backlinks)

Building on the suggestions to sort tasks that others have made, it would be very helpful to have a primary sort (e.g. on dates) and a secondary sort (e.g. on tags). e.g.

Coming Up

• Buy milk #home [18-09-2021]
• Mow grass #home [19-09-2021]
• Submit report #work [18-09-2021]
• Prepare meeting #work [21-09-2021]

This would enable GTD practitioners to tackle a long list of tasks easily by context. It would also give a visual overview of key focus areas for the day.

You can already sort by multiple attributes by repeating the "order by" cluse in the query. Is this what you need?

In theory yes, except I can't seem to get this to work. Is this syntax correct?

I think you want something like

Thanks schemar, that makes total sense on paper. However, when I run that exact query in Obsidian, it returns:

Tasks query: do not understand query

Removing the sort by statements causes the query to run normally.

Looks like a bug in that case. 🧐 can you post screenshots of your edit view and preview of the Note?

Hi schemar - I booted up Obsidian this morning to take screenshots and your code suddenly started working. I have no idea what changed. Feel free to close this one out. I will make a note on the forum if the issue comes back.
