Sub-tasks not included

I would like to view sub-tasks, indented under a task that has a the due date signifier.

I have not set any global task filter in the plugin settings, and I don't use #tags in my tasks. I've checked that my checklists are indented with four spaces.

Hey @jsmm this is not possible, sorry. Tasks only considers the task "itself" and not any hierarchy.

• Is it hard/messy to implement?
• Or is there just not enough demand for this feature?

I saw this question used to be an issue that is now closed. I found a couple of discussion threads on reddit too, so (depending on the answer to the question above) would it make sense to open a new issue?

Hi, I've been maintaining Tasks since end of May 2022, so I'll reply.

Any idea why this is not implemented?

1. schemar already explained why, in the message you replied to. It is still true - and to change that would require a complete redesign of a lot of code....
   • So your "Is it hard/messy to implement?" is the closest,
   • and your other two bullet points are both not true.
2. it's free software written by volunteers - the things that get done are the things that someone feels is valuable to them to do, and they have the time and skills to implement.

You can look at the labels I just applied to this one, and search for them in Discussions and Issues (both open and closed) to see earlier discussion.

Just a note about this, which I missed in earlier reading...

I saw this question used to be an issue that is now closed.

That's because in the early days of this plugin:

• Bugs went in Issues
• Feature Requests and Questions went in Discussions...
  • Any that were added to Issues got closed and moved, like this one...

At some point I changed to policy, so new feature requests now go Issues...

Earlier feature request remain in Discussions - like the one I linked to above.

Here are some of the reasons why the need for that change:
