F10 opens wrong editor for new note

I'm using 1.10.6 client on Linux Mint.

If I create a new note, which appears in editing mode, then press F10, the note opens in xed. My default markdown editor is gvim.

If I then put the note into reading view and press F10, the note correctly opens in gvim.

Returning the note to editing mode and pressing F10 again, the note is opened in gvim.

It seems the F10 key isn't initially doing the right thing for new notes?
