I noticed that when checking the computer network, it sends a request to the address "kore.r1ch.net". What exactly is this used for?

This is the auto update and services update check that fetches from obsproject.com. The OBS web infrastructure runs on a vhost on my personal server and shares the IP, it will soon be moved to its own dedicated infrastructure.

Where is the code for the entity making the request to the site located? @notr1ch

I wanted to see which request I submitted and what the result was.

There's been talk on Reddit about something akin to testing for Twitch servers.

As a further note, kore.r1ch.net is just the reverse DNS for the IP which https://obsproject.com is hosted on.

For posterity to anyone coming across this in the future, as of January 1st, 2026, we've migrated to our new host and DNS has all been updated so this shouldn't come up anymore in the future.
