Amazon Q / Code Whisperer

Hey there!
For most of my hobby stuff it's pretty okay to use Copilot & OpenAI adapters and for some of the stuff that i work on during my day-job i can use my locally running Ollama model and some Copilot depending on the project.

But for most stuff on my day-to-day, the customer that i work at would like me to stick with the AmazonQ subscription that they have for their employees and support staff.

Is there a way to get Amazon Q to work with code companion?

Hey @HendrikPetertje. Does the official Amazon Q plugin work for you? If so, we could use that as a basis to understand what a CodeCompanion adapter could look like. Or, feel free to share any other docs that might be useful.

nah no problem! It's probably not a bad idea to actually wait with implementing this until Amazon's Re:Invent happens. I had the privilege via my work to get some insight on the things they're going to roll out right before and after their yearly developers conference. I can't say much aside from the things they silently dropped publicly already like the deprecation of Amazon Q in favor of Kiro Cli (https://kiro.dev/docs/cli/migrating-from-q/).

probably best to hold off developing stuff as to not get bogged down having to redo/tweak a whole bunch of APIs and the likes in just a few weeks.

I'm talking to amazon via my current client's network to see if we can get their devs to prioritize ACPs. I'm not making any promises nor trying to give hope, but stuff might become a whole lot easier if that were to happen.
I put your code-companion project on their radar at the very least, so I'm hoping for at least a little bit more proactivity when it comes to access to their APIs as well as documentation of its inner workings with the developer MCPs that they are putting out.

Amazing. Well hopefully with your persuasion and the Zed's team continual efforts we could end up in a great place. You'd think ACP would be a no-brainer given they can just focus on a singular CLI tool and the editor/IDE communities take care of the rest. Enjoy the weekend!
