Gemini API Bug

While using v1.07, I can't get the Gemini API to work even though it's selected as the provider at the top of the config.

It seems to default to OpenAI no matter what. Can you please look into this. Also, there are a few spelling errors on the config file. It would help if you ran your files through an AI like ChatGPT or Gemini to review them for any errors or to provide you with suggestions for improvement.

I was able to use Gemini after clicking ok from the "Assistant Settings" menu above. I set Gemini as default in the config file and also hid all the other AI Model providers. It's not intuitive to think I have to then go to this menu and select it as the default when it's the only one displaying and appears selected already. Something is broken if it doesn't accept what API is selected in the configuration.lua as default and needs to be set in the menu above instead. Thank you for your help.

@boypt, is it possible to add a control for the restarts, like:

• Create a "memory" variable like previous_config_ai_provider
• Compare the selected one in the config with the one that was stored in this "memory" variable before ( at first installation, the latter one will be blank)
• If they are not equal, then mark the one on the config as the selected one and store it in this memory variable (to use it to compare later restarts)

If the user later selects an option from the UI, it will not be affected by this code change until they manually update it in the config.

I think I know the problem, the UI selected settings are stored in koreader/settings/assistant.lua, this setting has priority on selecting model, this bug happeds when user change their configuration.lua after the settings selection.

It's easier to check the model is available after reading it from settings.

I applied the algorithm previously mentioned. I hope this problem is solved now.
