EAP-SIM is missing

Hi,

In France Free Mobile use EAP-SIM for identication on his network, call FreeWifi_Secure.

When I want to use it and I connect, I haven't got the EAP sim in the list of possibilities.

The manual conf is :

network={
       ssid="FreeWifi_secure"
       key_mgmt=WPA-EAP IEEE8021X
       eap=SIM
       priority=5
}

in the wpa_supplicant.conf

I try to find out a patch for this, but if you got ideas, that would be great.

I'm not aware of many ROMs that support EAP-SIM authentication, but this would definitely be something nice to get working.

I have noticed this exists - https://code.google.com/p/seek-for-android/wiki/EapSimAka - but I have not tested it. One issue is that very few people have access to an EAP-SIM set of networks (and a suitable SIM to test it with).

I've noticed MTK making some commits related to EAP-SIM on AOSP's gerrit actually:

These might be quite interesting. Input from you here would be very good, as not many people at Omni have access to such networks to test it :)

Oh I would love to validate it.

How can I test it on my phone ? is they a patch I can apply (installing a TWRP zip may be) ?

You would first need to look through the source code, understand what they are doing, and see what other patches might be related.

You'd then need to merge that code into an AOSP tree (cherrypicking it in git), and test it. Likely you'll need to use a combination of the patch you linked, and other ones. It then probably won't work, and you'll have to play about with other things too, and see if you can manage to get it to connect. The patch you linked seems interesting, but would need updated probably

If the patch applied correctly to AOSP sources, then you should be able to simply compile a build as usual for your device - I am surprised it actually works given the age of that patch though!

So i haven't compiled anything before on android. is they a tutorial somewhere to compile and apply the wpa supplicant changes ?

Oh you will need a lot more than that - I think the first patch you pointed to might be a good starting point.

It's not a quick process to just start and get compiling - I suggest taking a look at

I'm building a docker build box on my linux server, I will follow the step for building, and also apply the patch to wpa_supplicant and test the network. I will need sometimes. I get back as soon as possible to confirm if the connexion works.

Well, I got builded.
I got ~/android/omni/out/target/product/i9300/
But I haven't got the zip file.

Do I have to zip it and flash ?

You should do "mka otapackage", which will make you a zip file you can flash. Did you follow the guide so you have proprietary blobs etc?
