I wanted to share a first idea for the IDEAS logo. It should still be improved, but the white box represents the white-box approach, the light bulb represents an idea and multiple ideas = IDEAS. And the village refers to buildings. Maybe something more energy-related should be added. Feel free to give feedback or suggest other logos.

This logo will not be that visible within the Dymola package browser. If that is a "constraint", we can just take the KU Leuven logo + the light bulb.

Or with TheSySi logo included

@lucasverleyen thanks a lot for initiating this! I like the idea of the light bulb and white box. I think the building should also be in there (as IDEAS' focus is on white-box building models), but maybe the district in the first idea is a bit too complex? Another idea would be a white box with a building next to the light bulb on the cover? Or the light bulb inside of the building?

I just tried some things out, and getting a good logo while including many aspects isn't easy. Maybe, just keep it simple? This is also more suitable for having a logo in the package browser. (PS. We can still improve the font (something more rounded))

Nice work @lucasverleyen! Given that the icon is not very visible in the GUI, I would opt for something without details, i.e. option 1. However, this is my personal opinion, so feel free to choose another one :)

I also agree with @jelgerjansen and I prefer option 1.
However, since I liked the idea of the tubes I thought at something like that (the text IDEAS needs to be refined with the colour shading simulating the tubes):

Final attempt

I propose developing two versions of the IDEAS logo:

1. Minimal icon: A simplified version to be used as the icon for the IDEAS package. Since this icon will appear at a small scale in tools like Dymola, it should contain minimal detail for clarity and recognisability.
2. Full logo: A more elaborate version that includes the name "IDEAS", suitable for use in broader communication materials such as the GitHub repository, presentations, publications, documentation...

Minimal icon

The key idea behind the IDEAS logo is a light bulb (symbolising an idea and thus innovation) filled with a stratified storage (symbolising thermal energy). For the Modelica package icon, I propose 3 options:

Option 1	Option 2	Option 3

My opinion: Option 1 is very clear and simple. The house in Option 2 does not bring added value. Option 3 has a bit more energy. I slightly prefer Option 3.

Full logo

The key idea behind the full logo is combining the light bulb with the name "IDEAS".
I also propose 3 options. Option 1 corresponds to Option 3 of the minimal icons.

I have tried many options, based on a lot of feedback from many of you. These are, in my opinion, the best options.

My opinion: Option 1 is simple. Option 2 is clear, IDEAS is the most readable, but the light bulb and boreholes are slightly disconnected. Option 3 is a bit more complex, but more special and integrated. I prefer Option 3.

Hi @lucasverleyen, thanks a lot for the effort. I prefer option 2 for the minimal logo for the package icon. Main reason why I prefer it over option 3 is because the text "IDEAS" above the light bulb is not really readable as a package icon. Moreover, as "IDEAS" is the name of the package it will already appear next to it anyhow.

For the full logo, I share your opinion on option 3.

Really appreciate all the work on this @lucasverleyen, it looks great! I agree with Louis and Anna that Option 2 works best for the minimal icon, and I’m a big fan of Option 3 for the full logo. ;)
