OpenModelica compatibility IDEAS.Examples.IBPSA models

Hey IDEAS team. I am currently updating BOPTEST test cases using IDEAS (bestest hydronic and bestest hydronic heat pump). I noticed that with the setup reported below the models in the IDEAS.Examples.IBPSA package fail to translate (see screenshot). I am wondering if you are actively doing any tests in OM and if something changed recently that could cause that translation error, since with previous version of IDEAS and OM those models would simulate. Sorry for my late reply, but I didn't have access to my emails the past week.

The (translation) errors that you describe above are due to the incorrect handling of expendable connectors in OM, see OpenModelica/OpenModelica#11373 and OpenModelica/OpenModelica#13067.

As a temporary fix, I created a BOPTEST branch a while ago (see #1328). I merged our latest master branch in the BOPTEST branch. Note that the only difference is the use of connector instead of expendable connector; the latter is more correct according to the Modelica standard, but is not yet correctly supported by OM. Let's hope they can fix this as soon as possible, but for now, you should use the BOPTEST branch in case you want to test the models within the IDEAS.Examples.IBPSA with OM. I'll try to keep that BOPTEST branch up-to-date with the master branch.

I was too fast: due to the latest master merge, I ran into an additional translation error for IDEAS.Examples.IBPSA.SingleZoneResidentialHydronicHeat Pump:

which is due to the following line of code:

initial equation 
  heaPum.con.T=293.15;
  heaPum.eva.T=278.15;
  heaPum.eva.port_a.C_outflow=outAir.Medium.C_default;
  heaPum.eva.port_a.Xi_outflow={0.01};

I'll fix this by replacing the declariation of C_outflow by:

  heaPum.eva.port_a.C_outflow=MediumAir.C_default;

I'll first push this fix to the master branch (#1438) and if the unit tests (Dymola) pass, I'll update the BOPTEST branch as well.

@EttoreZ I just merged the changes in the BOPTEST branch (unit tests were succesfull). Could you verify that this solves your problems?

@jelgerjansen I confirm that the simulations now runs. However, I get another error when opening the model in Diagram view. It may be an OMedit issue with visualization.

Hi Ettore, those scripting errors refer to some typos and non-existent parameters, but they don't throw an error as they appear in annotations. I'll fix those tomorrow, re-open the pull request and then merge the changes to the master and BOPTEST branch. Thanks for addressing this!

@EttoreZ I think I fixed all scripting errors. I already pushed the changes (#1439) to the BOPTEST branch. Could you verify whether the errors are also solved for you?

@jelgerjansen Thank you for addressing that! I confirm that I do not see those errors anymore when loading the models in OMedit.
