It is very likely that you excluded from d3plot some components(stress/strain tensor or vector some of vector comps), or some parts in consequence db header might change… lasso works with the default d3plot settings, there is some inconsistency in d3plot, but vendor says I don't care, “it is as it is we don't plan to change anything use pydyna”. They developed PyDyna but nobody wants to use it…

I looked into what was causing this bug. Can you confirm the version of the LS-DYNA solver was r970, subversion 7600.398?

I ask because that version of LS-DYNA is from 2006, and the absolute oldest version of the LS-DYNA database manual I could find was from 2011. There were some significant changes to LS-DYNA between r970 and the single-number revisions that followed, and I'm pretty sure the header changed too. Right now, I don't think Lasso can read a file that old.

Yeah it's ancient, the D3plot is from 2008. What started this was it was the only D3plot that could be read into Siemens Team Centre successfully & we were trying to read what the differences were in order to see if we could introduce a compatibility layer into our Radioss Anim to D3plot convertor. Given the level of change required, we don't think that it is worth investigating further. Thank you for taking a look.
