Zero-Code Observability with OpenTelemetry in Minikube – Is It Fully Supported?

Hi everyone,

I'm exploring the possibility of setting up a full observability pipeline using OpenTelemetry inside a local Kubernetes environment with Minikube — strictly without making any changes to the application code.

My goal is to:

• Use OpenTelemetry ** zero-code -instrumentation**
• Collect logs, metrics, and traces
• Store and visualize this telemetry data entirely within the Minikube cluster

Before diving in, I’d like to clarify a few things:

1. Is Minikube fully compatible with this kind of observability setup using OpenTelemetry and zero-code auto-instrumentation?
2. Are there any known limitations or caveats when running the full OpenTelemetry stack inside Minikube?
3. Has anyone done something similar successfully on Minikube and could share any tips, examples, or best practices?

AFAIK, there is no official documentation about this. But I would be very surprised this didn't work.
The Collector is a service, just like any other. Setting up the collector in minikube should be exactly the same process as in a full-blown kubernetes.

I would follow the kubernetes documentation. If you have issues, write them down. And write your own blog post about that afterwards.
