I think Azure OpenAI support is coming soon: #11 Btw, a post that start with "Dont get me wrong" already sets me in a bad mood 😎 |

the more tools like this the better! everyone can customize tools for themselves now, what a time to be alove, feeling like ironman cookin with jarvis! i could create my own automation tool, but it's online only and treats git repo like a folder (contrast to codex using real pc with real files and folders, but "offline" - i'm mobile focused, i like to cook sitting in the kitchen, pc is for debugging runtime errors only🤪) excited with your professional detailed description how to contribute - thanks a lot, i'll still it to levelup my own project)) |

Bullish on codex as it's OSS and apache licensed. Project is under active development right now, and if OpenAI puts the right attention to it, it might converge as the go-to tool for CLI agentic coding. |

I have a very positive experience with both Cloud Code and Aider. I'm questioning the management decision to start the project that provides nothing new to the existing offerings on the market. Supporting the existing open-source projects is a significantly wiser investment for both the company and the ecosystem. |

Dont get me wrong, this is a great offering, but Im trying to understand the positioning of codex vs say Aider or ClaudeCode. It is great that this is open source vs say ClaudeCode.
Given that this is open source you will certainly see forks or pr's for adding support for things like Azure OpenAI, or support for Microsoft Copilot, or things like OpenRouter/Groq. Will these be welcomed or shunned??
But Im having a hard time seeing the uniqueness vs other tools and some vision style documentation would be great. For me personally this is not going to be useful until things like Azure OpenAi and/or Microsoft Copilot OpenAi are supported, but for now it looks very interesting and could likely evolve much quicker than say Aider.
