Move files between spaces is not possible

Why it is not possible to move files between spaces?
This requires additional and unnecessary work steps.

It is a deliberate decision to prevent moves between spaces because the architecture allows multiple storageproviders with different storages. A move between spaces on those storageproviders would then be a cross-storage move which can't be done with a low-level rename anymore.
So if anything this could be implemented as a two-step process in the server or the client, but those solutions hey issues of their own and thus didn't make it to the top of the backlog yet.
