Status of Docker V2 registry API spec aka distribution-spec

Hi everyone,

My understanding is that the distribution-spec is the new home of the Docker V2 registry API spec (?).
What's the status of this ? is this finalized ? Is there a certification program in place (CNCF?) that certifies different registries w.r.t adherence to the updated spec ?
