Deployment failure: bitnami/redis:8.0 image no longer available

I’m deploying OpenCRVS Core v1.8.1 using the deploy-prod.yml workflow. This was working fine yesterday, but today the deployment fails when pulling Redis

I tested locally with:

docker pull bitnami/redis:8.0

and received the same error.

Investigation

• The bitnami/redis:8.0 tag is no longer available on Docker Hub.
• Bitnami announced hat as part of their Bitnami Secure Images initiative they are deprecating/removing Debian-based images from docker.io/bitnami.
• Existing images have been migrated to docker.io/bitnamilegacy, but those will no longer receive updates or security patches.

Impact

• The current deployment workflow in v1.8.1 cannot pull the required Redis image, which breaks production deployments.

I’m not entirely sure, but since this was working fine until September 29th, it might be related to Bitnami’s catalog changes or there could be another issue.

Hi @mascudmuse many thanks for your query. Yes we are aware of this unfortunate problem.

We updated the images to this in our next release, OpenCRVS v1.9.

But we do need to release this in a hotfix on 1.8. Can you inform me which country you are working for, or if are you part of our implementation partner training programme please? Just so that we can prioritise accordingly.

To answer your question, yes, we are part of the implementation partner training programme.
Since there isn't any urgent situation on our side, please feel free to prioritize this accordingly based on the needs of other countries or partners. We appreciate the update and are happy to wait for the official release plan.
