When a user adds course events to their calendar through our app, the events are created as local calendar events. As a result, Google Calendar does not show them by default, since it prioritizes synced calendars (e.g., Google accounts). Users must manually enable visibility by going to Google Calendar > Settings > Manage Accounts.

This is not an issue with other calendar apps, which typically display local events by default.

Impact:

  • From a UX perspective, this is concerning because users may assume their events haven’t been added.
  • It affects the perceived reliability of our calendar sync feature, especially for users who primarily rely on Google Calendar.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Clear Google Calendar cache.
  2. Add course events via the app.
  3. Open Google Calendar.
  4. Observe that the account and related events are not visible.

Expected Behavior:
Users should be able to see their course events in Google Calendar by default, without needing to tweak settings.

Note:
This limitation is specific to Google Calendar. Other calendar apps (e.g., Samsung Calendar) usually display local events without issues.
