Hi,

I am working on spatial analysis of the Malacca Strait and saw this new plugin and am really keen on using it. I got most of the steps to work but I keep getting this error when trying to run in QGIS: "Failed to create timelapse: Failed to initialize Google Earth Engine. Please authenticate first.".

I did try earthengine authenticate in the powershell but it just returned "Credentials already exist. Use --force to refresh.". Any way I am overlooking anything?

You need to set EE_PROJECT_ID as an environment variable or specify it in the GUI. If you don't know the project ID, login to https://code.earthengine.google.com, you will see it in the upper-right corner.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I am still getting the same error even with my project ID put into the plugin in QGIS. Should I try to uninstall and install again or is there any other solution?

Run the following in the QGIS python console to see if you can initialize it:

import ee
ee.Authenticate()
ee.Initialize(project="YOUR-OWN-PROJECT-ID")

I think I might have missed a step in the tutorial, I had no earth engine plugin installed in QGIS yet. Seems to fix the issue! Thanks a lot for the help :)
