More compact tables - font size?

We've had a few folks state that the table is "too big" and they'd prefer things to be more compact so that it's easier to scroll thru... or rather, requires less scrolling. They even suggested tweaking font size as a possible solution. I think that actually makes a lot of sense since I agree the font appears large.

Not sure how we'd want to approach implementing. Certainly the default could be made a config file setting, but should it also be a user setting?

I would be fine to make that a toggle somewhere.

Hmmmm, @jthompson-arcus do you have any comments? I just checked an internal deployment and we don't have the extra space you are displaying here.

Our deployment also has lots of unused space. This can be mitigated in a few ways. Making it dynamic is a bit messy. Easiest way is to just make the table larger (i.e. increase the pixels). It currently is set at 400px but could easily change that.

BTW: a work around until this is implemented, is of course to press control + scroll with mouse scroll wheel/ ctrl + minus sign to change the page size, but I guess your users already tried that, right?
I guess they are checking out the page on a relatively small laptop screen
