Why availability_zone parameter on opentelekomcloud_vpc_subnet_v1?

New to OTC, just got off the call with a technican. In contrast to AWS, subnets on OTC are not bound to an AZ, but are regional.
The API documentation also does not list an availability_zone parameter anywhere: https://docs.otc.t-systems.com/virtual-private-cloud/api-ref/apis/subnet/creating_a_subnet.html

Why does the opentelekomcloud_vpc_subnet_v1 have one? https://registry.terraform.io/providers/opentelekomcloud/opentelekomcloud/latest/docs/resources/vpc_subnet_v1#availability_zone-5
