Description

Many park and trail stewards rely on dedicated tax revenues to support the conservation work for which they are responsible. Whether its annually, bi-annually, or every five years, parks inevitably need to win voter renewal of those dedicates revenues. However, because parks operate on limited budgets, these campaigns are often conducted by park staff in their spare time. Anything to help these folks run campaigns more efficiently or effectively would be a boon.

Idea

Inspired by measuring access to parks, perhaps we can also measure who lives in proximity to parks and trails for another purpose----voter targeting. Those that live within walking distance of parks and trails are the people most likely to benefit from these assets, and thus have the most obvious return on investment from their taxes. These residents could be targeted as advocates and evangelists during tax issue election seasons.
