Description of the problem
This issue is filed based on oppia/oppia#17820. A quick summary:
Problem statement
- A user asks: in the future, when Oppia is used over multiple continents and there are a lot of subjects available in the app, learners who access the app without any assistance may get confused due to too many choices.
Possible solutions / ideas for addressing the problem
- Since subjects vary from country to country, can we have an option where one has to choose their nationality and, after they input it, there is a display of all the subjects that are offered in that particular country? E.g. in Kenya, financial literacy might be incorporated in a subject called "Business Studies" that are taught in secondary schools.
- For subjects that might not be taught at school, such as basic financial planning, we could just always display them.
Any other relevant context/info
This might be a possible follow-on to the basic curriculum mapping (i.e. tagging lessons that match a country's region's or school's curriculum). Perhaps showing a list of lessons that are tagged with a particular curriculum could be part of the featureset for curriculum mapping.
