Trying to “hook into” core registration without extension points isn’t currently how Oqtane is designed, so replacement via a custom module is the clean and supported path. If this becomes a common requirement, it might be worth proposing an extensibility hook (e.g. username validation pipeline) upstream—but today, a module replacement is the correct solution. |

I need to implement bad word filtering in oqtane usernames. I've initially settled on BogaNet.BadWordFilter since it includes built-in support for 25 languages out of the box, is available on Nuget and has a permissive license.
How would I go about implementing something like this where I need to inspect the username entered and possibly reject it without needing to maintain changes to Oqtane itself? Replace user registration with my own module?
