Add item without opening the dropdown

I have tried many different things, and I couldn't figure out a way to do this simple thing.

Prior to v2.1.1, the method's signature was createItem( value, [triggerDropdown], and [callback]).
This was probably what I wanted but I cannot try it.

A boolean option for addItem or createItem to not open the dropdown would be great
