Virtual Loan Tool and Developer Mode

First, I want to say that the virtual loan tool (VLT) is fantastic! Great job whoever thought of it, made it a reality and continue to maintain it.

Second, my question: Does anyone know if it possible to enable developer mode on devices from the VLT?

When I try to follow the steps in the developer documentation I'm unable to retrieve an OAK because the devices in VLT don't have outgoing access to the internet.

It appears that you are correct about the limitation, as the OAK API requires a connection to the AXIS O3C Dispatcher service.

I think I have found a workaround for this:

1. On your local machine, install and start a proxy server such as privoxy:

brew install privoxy
brew services start privoxy

2. Create SSH reverse tunnel from local to remote:

ssh -R 8118:localhost:8118 -p <PORT> VLTuser@<HOST>

3. Configure the global proxies:

   • HTTP proxy: http://localhost:8118
   • HTTPS proxy: http://localhost:8118

4. Get key and return to the guide

Is using such a workaround considered acceptable?
