WebUI Access of custom app

Hello,
I am able to copy and run the app via SSH on device using Virtual Loan tool, I want to access webUI of my app, for this

1. Do I have to convert my app to "eap" format and upload it via "Add App"
2. Or is there any other way out , through which I can access the webUI of my app on a custom port?
   This is just for testing and confirmation purpose, once app compatibility is confirmed, recommended path will be followed.

Does your app include a web server that serves the resources needed by the browser?
If so, you should be able to access it at whatever port it is running.

But ACAP apps typically rely on the web server in AXIS OS to serve static files bundled with the app. For this to work it has to be installed as an EAP at least once.

Yes, you have to compile it to EAP and install to that camera.

I am able to generate "eap" of my app, and able to install on the Axis device. I am still facing issue to access the web UI of my app,can anyone direct me to an example /sample code which includes web UI, for reference.
What happens when we click "start" to start our app? does it invokes a start script ?

I suggest you to explore the acap-native-sdk-examples/web-server example.

It is using the 2001 for example with CivetWeb . In VLT you can use 127.0.0.1 with

2. My app already includes a web-server which works for every embedded platform, I think the same should work as is without need of new/another embedded web server e.g. Civetweb, the existing web server handles the pages/its config seems similar to CivetWeb.

   Yes, that is why suggested the CURL command to verify. You can't test the UI using Axis VLT

I suggested the web-server with Civetweb only to explore the example and change the manifest.json as per your requirement

Hello,

1. I have added changes in manisfest.json file to make app run on "start". axisivaapp_Manifest.png file attached here.
2. After these changes I am getting "could not stop ivaapp" error. Refer axisivaapp_stop.png.
3. Please share example for how to add logs so that i can get my app logs, currently my ivaapp syslogs are empty attached axisivaapp_syslog.png screenshot with this ticket.
4. trying to find/refer "opc-ua-colourcheck.acap" example not able to get access.
5. However, with "web-serve-using-fastcgi" i what learned is , I will have to add htttp config for my all cgi requests , currently trying with this.
6. Will I be able to see "Open" button if my UI accessibility added correctly? or Do i have add "Signed App" only to get my webUI= Open button with my app?

its rather easy let me explain.
your app name is: ivaapp
your reversproxy path is: iv_web_server
so the url to hit your webserver is: local/ivaapp/iv_web_server

your static asset do not following this shema

any request to local/ivaapp/iv_web_server lands on http://127.0.0.1:50000

that is mine


my app name and api path are the same so it is local/ax_msf/ax_msf

Looks like your ACAP is working fine 😄 . You may need to catch someone who understands the HTML code.
