ACS, prevent recordings from being deleted

Hi!
We are doing continuous recording in ACS. We have some analysis doing some post processing and I'm looking a way to set some video segments from being deleted.
I looked at bookmarks but they seem to protect 5 minutes before and/or after the bookmark but in my case I might want to protect like a few hours of recording.
Any suggestion on how to use the API to protect a recorded segment from being deleted?
Maybe generate a bookmark every few minutes...

Recording life span is managed with the retention time. If this isn't sufficient we recommend that you export these recordings for further processing.

The API for AXIS Camera Station is still in active development with frequent changes.
