TestShell Studio requires a runtime license when a test with a Ranorex step is opened (even when disabled!). The license will remain in use until the Studio is closed.
If you want to open an editor of Ranorex (Ranorex Studio, Recorder, Spy) – either from the TestShell Studio or manually – your station will require a premium license and release the runtime license you already had (the premium license includes the runtime license).
* Note – the license is for a station (machine) and not for each program.
If you open a Ranorex software it will ask for the matching license (Runtime/Premium) according to the launched program and it will take the appropriate edition on launch.
If you now launch a second program that will require a higher edition, the the previous license will be released and the proper license will be taken.
For example - if you open a TestShell Studio test that include a Ranorex step, and after that open Ranorex Studio, one premium license will be required for both of them.
If you launch Ranorex Recorder, a Premium edition license will be taken. If you now launch TestShell Studio and then close the Ranorex Recorder, the Premium edition license will still be used.
