Ranorex - installation and usage (GUI Automation)

Ranorex is the name of the GUI-automation application which is integratedtoTestShell applications.

In order to work with the "GUI Automator" library a suitable version of  Ranorex should be installed. The matching versionforTestShell 4.8 SP1 and SP2 is Ranorex-3.3.1

 

Installation:

Client:

1. Installation files are located in the Download Center. For 4.8 SP1 and 4.8 SP2 run the file "Ranorex-3.3.1.exe" and follow
2. Open the "Ranorex Licensing" application. Acquire a license usinglicense serverby choosing "Use License Server" --> clicking "Detect" --> choose the license server name (QASQL in this example below) --> clicking "Install".
   
   
   
   

License Server:

1. Installation files are located in the Download Center. For 4.8 SP1 and 4.8 SP2 run the file "RanorexLicenseServer-3.3.1.exe" and follow
2. The server will appear when you will hit the Detect function atClient
3. Open the "Ranorex License Server Tool" application.  Add a license to the server
4. thetool can be used to check floating licenses leasing.
   
   

Usage

1. Drag the "GUI Automator" tool to the canvas
2. Open the tool's mini-canvas (In this stage the license is locked for your usage - It isreleasewhen you close TestShell Studio).
3. There are two ways to work with the GUI Automator tool:

1. Inserting GUI Toolsmanualy- the relevant tools are "Inspect", "Keyboard", "Mouse", "Validate"
2. Import a recording that was made by the "Ranorex Recorder" application (can be opened directly from the mini-canvas button "Ranorex Recorder",

It is possible to configureactionsthat will take placeinthe Set Session step (launching ofapplicationetc.)
