Challenges observed in Bootcamp - Mar 2023

Generic challenges:

1. Flow diagram of code from 'routes' to 'DB/OtherService' and back with explanation of Actors would have helped.
2. More detailed local setup steps is to be documented and added to respective service repositories as well as microsite.
3. Explanation of Architecture and usages of various databases in services would have been helpful.
4. Participants expected automatic compilation of code to happen on code changes in IDE. They were to be told to do recompilation.
5. Single Click installation script for local setup (OS wise) for each service would help reduce starting time for development.
6. Latest maven release had issues in compiling course-service
7. We need to provide all solid possible ways of configuring java/mvn home path for all consoles(zsh/bash) for all OS.
8. Docker containers were found stopping automatically multple times. (probably due to low system configurations)

OS specific Challenges:

1. Local setup on Windows OS needs to be documented and corresponding challenges needs to be addressed. Specifically maven related.
2. properties were not getting retrieved properly in Windows machines.
3. Mac OS machines had trouble with java versions. Some worked with OpenJdk but some required oracle release version.
