I really like the idea! Really, very good. And it matches with the an idea of mine to ensure XLibre works on the platforms Xorg used to work as stated in Xorg(1x) manual page. Quote:
Sure, XLibre should work on these platforms as well since noone kicked them out but we need proof by testing XLibre in the real world. |

Describe the idea
I'm suggesting a knowledge base, for reading quick information about a platform that is relevant to XLibre and its development.
There can be a page dedicated to each OS, and then in a table entries be added for each bit of information.
The table could include but is not limited to the following:
@callmetango what do you think?
It should be done because
Most contributors and developers here have mastered the insides and outs of a single ecosystem and that is usually Linux.
But XLibre is a cross platform software, knowledge of some facts about different OSs and platforms is vital for it's development.
Usually these facts can be gathered by surfing the interwebs but that takes a long time and usually is not done.
Having all useful info about a platform in a single location can help speedup this process and in turn encourage the developers to go and look for them.
What are the alternatives?
This could be a single wiki page, a single table, collection of pages and ... .
I'm just suggesting the broad idea.
Additional context
I had this idea after dealing with this issue on FreeBSD.
