FR: threaded conversations in switchable alternative views

A group chat might be able to have an alternative view on the message and the reply chain. It would be the standard chat view, but then the other would be a forum/message board view which could display the chat data (including reply chains) as nested replies like that of hackernews, reddit, lemmy, etc. I had this idea for a messenger app and have some confidence it could work out well, where chat mode would work well for short-term ephemeral conversations, and the forum mode could have more of that extended time conversations you only find with messageboards/forums/bbs/etc. This idea is just that the same chat group could have the two views instead of being separate things. Maybe an originally intended chat message turns into a longer on-going conversation in the board view. Chatterboard.
