Hello! I am using Bonsai to record from my Basler camera using a TTL trigger. I have created the pfs file and this is loaded into Bonsai with the correct serial number, and it seems the correct packages are installed. When I open Pylon and run the trigger with the feature file open, everything looks fine and I see the camera triggering. When I close Pylon, open Bonsai, and click start, I get an error that says "external component has thrown an exception". I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Pylon and Bonsai, and am using the most updated version of each. Any ideas what might be causing the issue? Am I still missing a package (wouldn't Bonsai detect if a dependency is missing?). I have searched through the forum and tried tips for others that have worked including a clean install of both programs and that has not worked for me. Here is a screenshot of my setup. I think I have fixed the issue by downgrading my Pylon viewer to 7.1.0 as suggested in another thread. Is this the best solution for now? |

For future reference, some packages (especially those that wrap hardware SDKs as it is the case) require 3rd party software/drivers to be installed. In theory, the bonsai package could be compatible across versions, in practice, we have no control how the vendor evolves their API and more often than not, they choose to break compatibility very often. The safest option is to use the version the package has been built against which we usually state in the package description: |
